Las Vegas Restaurant Week

restaurantweek17This is an event I discovered on Yelp. It is 2 weeks of participating restaurants that have a pre-fixed menu of lunch or dinner offering the best dinning deals. This event is for a great cause, proceeds go to Three Square to help fight hunger in Southern Nevada.

I thought this was awesome & really wanted to participate in Las Vegas Restaurant Week. I did my research of places I wanted to try out & to see which local restaurants are participating I then decided to try out one menu for lunch & another for dinner.. Let’s see where I went 🙂

1031 S Rampart Blvd
Las Vegas, Nevada 89145

Decided to have a lunch ($20) at Honey Salt with an 11:30am reservation. This is a great place to dine for lunch. Atmosphere was great, simplistic. Noticed there were many that came there to grab a bite with friends or business lunches. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the Turkey Meatballs the ricotta added a nice touch & the Panna Cotta was a taste up my alley. Our server Katie provided the best service! I also had a check in offer on Yelp, I was questioning if I was able to use the one free appetizer when purchase an entre towards Las Vegas Restaurant Week. It was granted the staff & Katie were so accommodating. I was very pleased with our dinning experience here, go visit Honey Salt if you are in Las Vegas.

Came to Nacho Daddyfor dinner ($30) Since it was dinner, decided to grab a couple cocktails and unwind. My boyfriend and I sat in a booth & the employees were so welcoming, we felt very comfortable. It was not as busy as I thought it would be, a lot of people sat upstairs by the bar as we sat on the lower level. Their bar is huge & they also have craft beers on tap. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. The service was great, food came out right away. They were on top of it! & they also gave generous sized portions. Look at our nachos, it was so good & massive. Once we finished a meal we were so full, we forgot there was more coming! We definitely enjoyed ourselves here at Nacho Daddy.

Happy hour is the best hour!

Decided to make first-time reservations for happy hour at a restaurant located inside my local casino, Red Rock. This beautiful decorated restaurant is called Hearthstone. Which has an outside entrance as well as inside the casino. It is beautiful and unique. I want to say it reminds me of a rustic southern countryside feel. We enjoyed our dinning experience outside on their patio area. Very spacious, lot of seating arrangements as well as a bar. It’s a great place to catch a bite or to grab drinks after a long day.

Happy Hour is from 5pm-7pm
All items on happy hour menu is $6
+including draft beers & house wines.

* Don’t forget to check-in on Yelp to redeem a free glass of wine offer.

The Spread:

Baked Truffle Ricotta (Truffle Honey+Black Pepper+Gouda): This was excellent! I love anything truffle & ricotta, so I really enjoyed this appetizer.

Pigs-in-a-Blanket (Ketchup+Mustard): Traditional snack, didn’t find it extraordinaire.

Blackberry Bliss (Grey Goose Vodka+Blackberry Shrub+Lime+Mint+Ginger beer): This cocktail was yummy! Great combination of flavors, almost like a blackberry-mule.

New England Lobster Roll (Brown Butter Aioli+Brioche bun): Decided to order this off the regular menu in honor of National Lobster Day! I am all about Lobster rolls so I wanted to give this one a try & also because this particular item was only $10.00 usually $26, it was such a great deal! I enjoyed it very much all except my toast was a little burnt.

Until my next food adventure 🙂

Delicious food to fit your lifestyle.

DSCN2416aThis dinning experience is a little more unique rather than your typical outing. Panacea is a very popular, newly opened, rustic plant- based restaurant located in Summerlin’s Boca Park in Las Vegas, NV. Uses only the best quality ingredients & delicious flavors that compliment every dish. The décor is beautiful and modernized with a touch of urban feel. You won’t find another place like this in the Valley.

  • Kombucha on tap
  • Mocktails
    • Created by their talented mixologists.
  • Delicious smoothies
  • Dishes are complimented with color and taste
    • Bowls and salads
  • Healthy desserts
  • . . .More items will be coming soon to the menu.

Here we have the Ultimate Burger (2 Patties, iceberg lettuce, caramelized onions, dill pickles, chipotle ketchup, ginger mustard) + cheese with a side salad, I chose to feature this meal because it is one of the most popular on the menu & I can see why! Since this is a plant based establishment, no meat is used for their burger. Instead, it is 2 patties of quinoa. Very delicious and crispy, just right. Tasted like an actual burger! You wouldn’t even think it was healthy for you. Since it is quinoa, it fell apart easily at the end.

Grabbed a Truffle-Pistachio Lemon (Medjool dates, lemon zest, cashews, pistachios, lucuma). Full of flavor & you can distinctly taste all ingredients.

Also ordered a The Great Turning smoothie (Mint leaves, dates, avocado, coconut oil, spinach, dandelion, mint essential oil, cocoa nibs and coffee beans) I loved this one, very similar to mint-chocolate chip. Almost like a guilt-free shake.

Overall, I enjoyed the lunch and atmosphere of Panacea. The service was beyond excellent. So helpful and informative as they took me through their menu while ordering. For the experience it is worth checking-out but I honestly do not see myself coming often. But of course, it is the price you pay for healthy eating/living. Everything is great, but the price is too expensive for me to eat here all the time. I would drop by for some quick dessert or a wellness drink on occasion.

If you visit Panacea, let me know what your experience is like.
Happy Eating! 🙂

Caramel Crème Beverage?

Here, you’ve earned a drink. Something from the Three Broomsticks, you won’t have tried it before. —Remus Lupin

Here is something for my Harry Potter fans OR non-Harry Potter fans.. maybe even Starbucks fans? 🙂 My most recent trip to Universal Studio’s was last Labor Day. Was most excited to go to  Harry Potter World. I loveee it & I can’t waait to go back! But can we just talk about the butterbeer?! Ugh, heaaven! I ended up purchasing the novelty cup & maybe got 2 or 3 refills while visiting Universal. Being from Vegas of course there are those days where I wish or crave for a butterbeer. I’ve then stumbled upon a Starbucks drink imitating butterbeer, it isn’t the same buuut it will suffice!

Butterbeer Frappacino:

  • Ask for a Creme Frappuccino base
  • Add 2 pumps of caramel syrup
  • Add 2 pumps of toffee-nut syrup
  • Whip cream
  • Top with caramel drizzle

SAM_3132aHere I got caramel drizzle in the cup, hold the whip pls.

This makes a grande size & i’m sure you can make this iced or hot for those that do not like Frappuccino beverages. You can always modify to your liking! 🙂

How would you explain what buttery-beer goodness tastes like? Kind of reminds me of caramel cream soda? Idk, but it’s magical & the flavor is so precise.

Take advantage of their Happy Hour that ends Sunday, May 14. 1/2 off Frappacino’s (3-6pm)

Great American Foodie Fest 2017

SAM_2909a^Click Image to be sent to Foodie Fest’s Official Website^

Now, this is an event that I always look forward to! The Annual Foodie Fest was this past weekend April 27-30 at Sunset Station Casino located in Henderson, NV. A whole weekend full of food trucks from all over the US. 😋 Soo much good food it’s difficult to keep up..

Foodie Fest is one of the largest food festivals on the West Coast (Las Vegas, San Diego & Arizona). Over 50 of the Nation’s top food trucks & specialty vendors that have made their appearance on the Food Network, Cooking Channel & Travel Channel.

  • Beer garden
  • Live entertainment
  • Carnival rides & games
. . .plus so much MORE!

The festival was about a 45 minute drive for me & I was able to make it out 2 out of the 4 days. We had pre-ordered our tickets online $2.00 off & came out to be $8 and $10 at the door for general admission. Great thing is, the wristbands/ticket allows re-entry for all 4 days! Take advantage, you won’t regret it!

For your viewing pleasure, here are some shots I took at the festival of the various vendors/trucks we visited. Be prepared to eat with your eyes!

0-5 rating scale.

First truck, I had to go to is the Main Lobster Lady from Maine to get my warm buttered lobster roll. I look forward to their visit. The quality of their lobster is superb, it is pricey but to me, well worth it. This is exactly how I like my lobster rolls; chunks of lobster meat, butter & light mayo! Came here twice & i’m giving this a 5 for each visit!
SAM_2862aSAM_2863aCousins Maine Lobster truck is a franchise in Las Vegas always on the go, click image to see their schedule.
Rolled Ice Cream is a local business located on Ft. Apache & Flamingo, lines are out the door for this place.. it’s that good its hard to resist even in 40º weather.

Okamoto Kitchen is a truck that serves authentic, lesser known Japanese dishes. Above is “Nom Bomb Burger” with no jalapeños.  On a 5 scale I would rate it a 3 bread was delicious & chicken was light, it was just “good” to me.

Los Angeles based sushi burrito truck. I knew I had to get a sushi burrito & came here to order the “Shrimp Fiesta” (crab meat, avocado, cucumber with shrimp tempura on soy paper) I’d give my order a 5. It was the next best place I enjoyed asides from my lobster roll.

SAM_2878aSAM_2873aThis lemonade was our savior, especially since it was soo soo hot! Save $2 off re-fill was well worth it, I think we got 5 refills between the two days we came. We are big fans of the orange & strawberry flavor. I had also brought water but I love this lemonade.

Filipino Fusion Kitchen, they are popular for taking a Filipino dish & making into a burrito/tacos. Above is the “Chicken Adobo Burrito” which I would rate a 3. I understand when comparing Filipino food, ‘everyone’s taste different’ & the rice was a little hard. I had also gotten the “Ube Champorrado” a Filipino porridge/dessert that I would rate it a 2, not what I expected it was very watery. Almost like drinking taro milk tea with rice & nata de coco jelly.

SAM_2884aSAM_2882aFuku-Burger is another local food truck business that has been very successful all over the valley. They also had a restaurant at the Linq & are soon to relocate. I remember when they first started, parked across Chinatown on Spring Mt. The owners are down-to-Earth & I always looked forward to “Jazz fries” which is the image above. Their burgers are also great but I wanted something light. Id give my order a 4, it was all delicious except I felt that my fries were seasoned a bit too much, it was a little salty with the gravy. The crack sauce, does the trick! If you visit here don’t forget to TIP JELLLAAY!

Hand-crafted juicery is very fresh, last year I tried their watermelon frost which is very refreshing! This year I stuck with the old-fashion classic, “Arnold Palmer”  I like lemonade and ice tea/sweet tea. It was a bit sour but you can’t taste the agave too much since it is organic 🙂 I’m just glad it isn’t loaded with sugar!
(Fun Tip: Did you know a Tiger Woods is PINK lemonade & ice tea? — a golf reference, hah.)

SAM_2892aSAM_2886aBy the looks of their line, you automatically think this place is good! It is a long skewer of Cajun shrimp. What I liked that it was already peeled but the spice really catches you by surprise. I wish they could ask what spice level you wanted. I would give this a 3 out of 5.

Roasted Corn, your typical “elote” stand with a twist! I wanted something simple but instead I got something bold. I ordered the “Uni-CORN” which was butter/ mayo & colored parmesan cheese. Very cute concept. They also have other kinds such as: Doritos or Flaming Hot Cheetos. I would rate this a 4. The corn was delicious but I would have still been happy even if it wasn’t colored, it stained my teeth due to the food coloring.

SAM_2943aSAM_2885aLocated in San Diego, CA. Their food looks all so good but again, I wanted something small so I got the Ahi-tuna poke with wonton chips, I would rate this a 3. It was good but presentation was just ok & I wish they had added more sauce.

Last but not least, dessert! Located in Huntington, CA. Fluff ice has a create your own & a pre-set menu…it all looks so yummy! Here, we got the “Mango Madness” (Mango fluff ice cream with mango plus jelly & condense milk) rate this a 5. It was so good! Just learned that they are also opening one in Las Vegas very soon!

SAM_2940aHawaiian Shave Ice, above is “Blue Vanilla & Tigers Blood (strawberry & coconut) shave ice”– can’t go wrong with shave ice on a hot day!

Other vendors we had wished we got the chance to try:

Buuut, we’ll be back.. until next year 🙂

Thanks for reading, enjoy!
